Production: Hitesh Jhabak
Direction: Selvah
Music: D. Imman
Director Selvah has a charismatic touch over all his films. Mark our words – this filmmaker doesn’t strain a lot over dropping a substantially powerful concept on his papers. He picks an ordinary story and starts scribbling them with not so special moments and yet there’s something so exceptional in his flicks.
Need an illustration? A crystal clear exemplification could be his previous film ‘Naan Avanillai’. The film hadn’t boasted about a prodigious motif as it was a remake of yesteryear classic thriller with the same title. But again, the right mix of thrill, some intellectual moves of a conniving conman and a commendable climax together with extremum of glamour made the film a satisfying treat for the universal audiences.
Now, the filmmaker is back with a similar concept and indeed the same actor Jeevan. Does the film live up to our expectations? Definitely maybe, but we assure that you can watch this film without expectations and you’ll get more than you expected.
Does it sound odd? Let’s put it simple words, book your tickets for this film, go ahead, sit back and watch it. But don’t ever let your rationalities popping up.
Jeevan plays the role of a swindler, whose cerebral predomination makes the women fall into web of complicated situations. These Janus-faced girls (Lakshmi Rai, Swetha, Rakshana and Hema Malini) are spoilt brats, who’ve have strong penchant like for money, name-fame and husband-like-servant.
Our hero somehow gears up with new avatars on playing tricks with these girls and chisels them badly.
But, just like the previous version, Jeevan proves to be a good thief as well. It’s all revealing with his gesture towards another girl (Sangeetha). What has she got to do with him? If you’re interested in knowing more about it, just take a look over it in theatres.
Jeevan is so unstrained with his performance. All throughout the film, you can spot him delivering a show with decorous efforts. At some extents, he never seems to be laborious over the screens and excels with ne plus ultra performance. Sangeetha on pars, gets some laudable portions while rest of the actress have nothing to do other than showcasing their entire body (except private parts) in the name of ‘glamour’…
Sorry to say! The actresses don’t get anything to perform. Especially in general, Hema Malini has been persistently coming up with similar skin show from film-to-film.
As the technical departments lack finesses in all quotients, nothing is worth mentioning about them. Music is so horrible in both songs and background score.
There are some loopholes and ambiguities and yet Selvah makes sure that the audiences never feel like throwing out their questions feeling the flaw.
On whole, ‘Naan Avanillai-2’ doesn’t prove to be an Olympian at box office, but there are some possibilities to survive at box office and producers can take a cake walk.
Nemikchand Jhabak can better produce such kind of films to ensure profits rather than some of their worst films churned out previously.
Bottom - Line: Interesting in parts
Verdict: Watch it for time pass
